Organized by the Changing Young Lives Foundation (CYLF) and sponsored by the Commission on Children, “Story Wonders” 2023 Inter-School Storytelling Contest was successfully held at TST Community hall on 22 July 2023.
“Story Wonders” is a school-based storytelling program aiming to cultivate the literacy development, oral presentation skills, self-confidence and moral values of primary students. It inspires primary students to think laterally and critically, speak confidently and act responsibly.
Our deepest gratitude goes to CYLF Board Directors, famous artist Mr Anthony Ho and renowned local children’s author and storyteller Ms Maggie for being our guest judges.

Grand Opening of the “CYLF Herbert & Alice Cheng Centre” was joyfully held on 3 Jun. Centre Naming and Room Sponsors had a memorable celebration with all the guests and children.
Changing Young Lives Foundation CYLF 2023 Swing for Change Charity Golf Tournament was successfully held at The Hong Kong Golf Club’s Fanling Eden Course on 8 Feb. Around 100 golfers to help rewrite the life stories of under-resourced children through their swings in the purposeful morning. Funds raised in the Tournament will be used to support CYLF’s free education and empowerment services for underprivileged children and marginalised youth across underserved communities.

Changing Young Lives Foundation (CYLF) 2022 Charity Luncheon and Civic Leadership Award 2022 Presentation Ceremony was successfully held at Grand Ballroom, Grand Hyatt Hong Kong on 19 November 2022 (Saturday) with title Sponsor FANCL and 200 guests’ generous support.
Being one of the event highlights, we were most honoured to present the Civic Leadership Award 2022 to Ms. Shirley Loo, BBS, JP, MH - Hong Kong’s well-known educator in parenting and family education for recognizing her tireless dedication to social caring and family education. With the vision of engaging more social innovators to join hands to strive for the welfare of young people, and to accentuate the importance of civic engagement and leadership in children’s causes, CYLF inaugurated the “Civic Leadership Award” in 2017 to acknowledge community leaders who have made outstanding contributions to children and education in Hong Kong.
Under the theme "Reach for the Sky" this year, the luncheon featured various extraordinary performances by our scholarship recipients and Young Ambassadors, epitomizing the vision of an inclusive community among children from different backgrounds.
CYLF Talent Development Scholarship 2022 Awards Presentation Ceremony was successfully held on 22 Oct 2022. Scholarships were presented to 15 under-resourced secondary students with gifted talents and outstanding achievements in sports, music, arts and performing arts. Ice Hockey, Hurdling and Cycling were awarded for the first time this year.

"CYLF Community Chest Slam Dunk Challenge 2021/22" has held the Final Match cum Award Presentation at Southorn Stadium, Wan Chai, on August 17, 2022. We were honoured to have Mrs Sheilah Chatjaval (Chairman of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mrs Yvette Ho (Deputy Chairman of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mr James Louey (Secretary of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mr Michael Sze (Treasurer of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mr Arthur Leung (Member of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Ms Michelle Liang (Member of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mr Li Kin Man (Member of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council) and Mrs Joanna Cheung (Member of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council) as our guests of honour to present 33 awards . More than 300 audiences attended to support the neck and neck finalists with stormy applauses and cheering.

The ceremony was honoured to have Mr Charles C L Yang, BBS, JP (Admissions, Budgets and Allocations Committee Chairman of The Hong Kong Community Chest), Mrs Yvette Ho (Deputy Chairman of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mr James Louey (Secretary of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mr Michael T.P. Sze, FCA, LLM (Treasurer of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mr Thomas Ho (Member of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council), Mr Arthur Leung (Member of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council) and Ms Michelle Liang (Member of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council) as guests of honour, and has presented 33 Slam Dunk Challenge awards. Around 300 audiences came and supported different teams. The atmosphere was lively and the competitors were neck to neck.

Dr. Moses Mo-Chi CHENG, GBM, GBS, OBE, JP, was awarded the 2019 Civic Leadership Award in the Education Category, for his significant contributions and visionary insight in education. By launching the Award in 2017, CYLF envisions to engage more social innovators to join hands to strive for the welfare of underprivileged children and young people in Hong Kong and to accentuate the importance of civic engagement and leadership in children’s causes.
With the theme ‘Festival of Trees’ this year, the event featured some heart-warming stories from CYLF scholarship recipients in both Hong Kong and Gansu, and performances by the talented children from CYLF Learning Centre and Young Ambassador Program, epitomizing CYLF’s core mission to nurture under-served children and young people to thrive and blossom, and their vision for an inclusive and integrated community among children from different backgrounds, a community where they can be an inspiration to one another.
The inaugural CYLF Talent Development Scholarship Awards Presentation Ceremony was successfully held on 9 Nov 2019. Due to financial constraint and limited family support, young people from underprivileged background may not be able to advance their talents even though they are proven gifted. To help realize their full potential and maximize their opportunities for advancement, Changing Young Lives Foundation (CYLF) inaugurated the CYLF Talent Development Scholarship in 2019 to financially support under-resourced secondary students to attain higher prowess in their gifted arenas. The Scholarship also provides opportunities for recipients to give back their talents to benefit the community at large.

CYLF Centre 10th Anniversary Variety Show was merrily held on Aug 28. We would like to thank the guests for their enthusiasm, dedication and support to Changing Young Lives Foundation. There were talent performances during the variety show. All the Centre members and their families had so much fun and enjoyed the show very much.
The Final Match cum Awards Presentation Ceremony was held at Wai Tsuen Sports Centre on July 14, 2019. The ceremony was honored to have Ir Ko Chi-Wai Gary, Vice Chairman of Admissions, Budget and Allocations Committee of The Hong Kong Community Chest, Mrs Sheilah Chatjaval, Chairman of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council and Mr Arthur Leung, member of Changing Young Lives Foundation Council as guests of honor. There were about 200 people attended the event and the scene was hilarious.
In Jun 2019, we visited 140 beneficiaries of the Spring Blossom Scholarship Program in Dongxiang, Gansu with our Young Ambassadors and Studio 83 volunteers. Through English teaching and art activities, not only did we understand more of our beneficiaries’ educational and psychosocial needs, but also built genuine friendships with them.

Being one of the event highlights, the 2018 Civic Leadership Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Mr. John LEE Ka-chiu, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, JP, Secretary for Security to honour three distinguished social leaders - Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson, Chairman and Founder of the Crown Worldwide Group of Companies and Dr. Alman Chan Siu Cheuk, Founding Principal of Christian Zheng Sheng College, for their significant contributions to children philanthropy and visionary insight in education. By launching the Awards in 2017, CYLF envisions to engage more social innovators to join hands to strive for the welfare of underprivileged children and young people in Hong Kong and to accentuate the importance of civic engagement and leadership in children’s causes.
With the theme ‘Prom Night’ this year, heart-warming stories as well as performance of choir, drum set and ballet were presented by talented children from CYLF Learning Centre and Young Ambassador Program to epitomize the vision of an inclusive community among children from different backgrounds. In the company of al cappella performance and live auctions, the evening was filled with fun and philanthropic spirit.
In June 2018, along with the volunteers of Studio 83 and our Young Ambassadors, we visited the beneficiaries of the Spring Blossom program in Lanzhou and hundreds of left-behind children in 5 project schools in Dongxiang, brightening up their summer with painting, basketball, English class, beading workshop and friendship.
Our annual CYLF Fun Day cum Talent Show was merrily held on Dec 3. Besides all the talent performances, there were game and photo shooting booths. All the Centre members and their families had so much fun and enjoyed the show very much.
Organized by Changing Young Lives Foundation, the “Slam Dunk Challenge 20th Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony” was held at iSQUARE on 22nd Oct, 2017. The ceremony was honoured to have The Hon. Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Chief Secretary for Administration as guest of honour and delivered the opening speech. The organizer has also invited basketball lover Hubert Wu as the performing guest, together with The Hon. Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, Chief Secretary for Administration, Mrs. Sheilah Chatjaval, Council Chairman of the Foundation, Mrs Yvette Ma Ho, Vice Council Chairman of the Foundation, and program sponsors Mr. Michael Wu and Mr. Jonathan Tung of J.A.M. United to officially kick-off the 20th anniversary of “Slam Dunk Challenge” by shooting the mini basketballs into a giant basket.
In June, along with Studio 83 and CYLF Young Ambassadors, we paid visit to 4 project schools in Gansu province, China and brightened up 600 left-behind children’s summer with arts and basketball.
“Festival of Trees Charity Luncheon 2017” was held at Nicholini’s, Conrad Hong Kong on 15 May 2017, Monday. This year, the event was dedicated to raising fund for supporting the “Art to Heart Expressive Arts Therapy Program” that provides mental well-being enhancement support to hundreds of emotionally at-risk youth in Hong Kong.
We also took the opportunity to present the inaugural Civic Leadership Award to honour two distinguished social leaders - Dr. Eleanor Wong, OBE, DSSc, JP, a renowned philanthropist and Mr. Ronnie Cheng, Headmaster of the Diocesan Boys’ School ( Primary Section ) for their outstanding contribution in children and youth welfare over the years. By launching the CYLF Civic Leadership Award, we envision to engage more social innovators to join hands to strive for the welfare of underprivileged children and young people in Hong Kong and to accentuate the importance of civic engagement and leadership in children’s causes.
11 game booths were designed and hosted by CYLF Young Ambassadors. There were nearly 80 children members joined the event on that day and many nice prizes were being given to our children members! We would like to thank the Young Ambassadors for their enthusiasm, dedication and support to make the event successful.
We have joined the Caring Company Partnership Expo for the first time and we are excited to know many corporates would like to bring positive changes to the underprivileged children and youngsters together with us! We would like to thank our long-term partners who have come to visit us and we also look forward to building many more valuable partnerships in the near future.
Inviting our neighbors, members and their families to celebrate our Center's 10th anniversary with talent shows, free booth games and gifts. We were honored to have our ambassador Ms Yvette Kong, volunteers from QBE and Hong Kong Scottish RFC! We promise to continue serving the underprivileged children and young people in the next 10 years to come.
Joined by some of the most generous and philanthropic guests in town, our annual fundraising Gala Dinner helped raised funds to support our 100% free of charge social services. We were honored to have ambassador Ms Yvette Kong, Ms Elise Liu and Ms Linda Wong to perform and would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our Committee and volunteers for making the night a success.
