Brain Box

Brain Box is a learning support programme for underprivileged children with learning difficulties.

A territory-wide survey by the Education Bureau in 2005 reported that over 23,000 students suffer from different degrees of learning difficulties. Worldwide, the number is about one in 10. Dyslexia is most prevalent and has become more familiar to the public in recent years. Remedial services provided by the government and non-governmental organizations cannot meet the need, whilst private services are costly and generally not affordable by underprivileged families.

To help alleviate this problem, Changing Young Lives Foundation has launched a new Hong Kong programme, "Brain Box". This is a learning support programme designed to help underprivileged children with learning difficulties, and their families. The participants, who will be selected by our partner schools, partake in an 8-week computer programme that strengthens cognitive skills of memory, attention, processing and sequencing through combining education with fun. Workshops on parental support will also be provided for the families.

Programme Objectives:

  • To enhance the learning capacity of children having, or at-risk of having, learning difficulties through improving their cognitive skills.

  • To educate parents in supporting these children.

  • To establish a strong partnership between Changing Young Lives Foundation and local schools.
